April Showers Bring May Flowers
With only a few weeks left of the Spring semester we have been preparing the garden for the next inter(s). In the past couple of weeks, we have cleared out parts of the garden that has either been overgrown with weeds or we have decided to do something new.
At the last Campus Garden Clean-Up Day, we planted radishes and turnips in the cold frames, dug out the dead plants in garden boxes and dug out the ground to make a pathway from the earthen oven along with places to sit.
During this past week we have dug up ground in multiple areas and planted various flowers. Also, we weeded three sections of the garden to prepare for fruit trees, rows and new garden boxes. This work could not have been accomplished without the help of Julia Bresnan, Haley Keppel, Haleigh Schaffer, and Anastasia Laurenzo.
Looking ahead to the next three weeks we will be building garden boxes with the help of Joe Case and John Gould this coming Tuesday. Also, our next garden clean up date is April 19th, 2015 from 2-4! We look forward to meeting and seeing a lot of new gardeners to give us a hand with planting seeds and beatifying the garden to its potential. April 21st, we are having a garden clean up and dedication for Earth Week. At the dedication we will plant two fruit trees, one donated by Center for Environment Society and the other from Zena Maggitti.
Lastly, keep an eye out for our end of the year event, hosted by the Campus Garden Interns!
